MORE ABOUT THIS BOOK

Main description:

The complete guide to understanding the structure of homeland security law

Created from an assortment of new and existing laws, which are complex and expansive, America′s Homeland Security Act sets policy for confronting terrorism within the United States with legislation designed to prevent attacks as well as manage crisis in the aftermath of a successful attempt. What is little known about the Homeland Security Act, however, is that its authority establishes legal domain over a multitude of additional public safety matters, including natural disasters.

Foundations of Homeland Security cultivates in–depth understanding of homeland security law by covering a wide range of topics such as national security strategy; critical infrastructure protection; agriculture and food; emergency preparedness and response; and future steps all of which let readers develop conceptual knowledge for addressing a range of hazardous scenarios falling within the Homeland Security Act′s legal purview. Foundations of Homeland Security:

  • Is arranged in a topic–by–topic format structured to include only the relevant documents and statues that affect a particular subject, making for easier reference

  • Demonstrates that homeland security involves many specialties, and therefore is best viewed from a broad, long–term perspective

  • Contains many references valuable for professionals in various fields, including the military, the government, and first responders

  • Includes discussion questions for deeper exploration of material

A vital contributor to the multi–disciplinary effort toward protecting the rights and well–being of all American citizens, Foundations of Homeland Security offers important legal guidance that students, law enforcement officers, lawyers, and other related professionals need to accurately interpret and apply homeland security law
